The psychophysical principle, also called Weber-Fechner law or diminishing sensitivity, explains how the human ability to perceive or discriminate changes related a stimulus decreases as the overall magnitude of the stimulus gets larger. In other words, people feel less of an emotional response as the number or scale of something gets larger.
